Kolaches


1/4 C Warm Water
1 Package Dry Yeast
1 C Milk
2 T Sugar
1 Egg
2 T Butter
2 T Vegetable Shortening
1/2 t Salt
2 1/2 to 3 C Flour

Soften Yeast in Water
In Sauce Pan Scald milk
Remove from heat and cool to 80 degrees
Add Sugar egg butter and shortening
Add yeast mixture and mix well
Transfer to Large Bowl
Add salt and 1 C Flour at a time working it thoroughly
Turn Dough onto lightly floured board
Gently knead for a few minutes
Put in Greased bowl and cover with damp cloth until dough has doubled (2 hours)
Punch Down and knead slightly
Roll dough into 20 to 24 large smooth balls
Place on parchment lined baking sheet 2 apart
Let Dough rise 35 minutes
Make indention and add meat
Bake 375 for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Cool on rack
