Pat's Stovetop Chicken
Meat

4-5 lb whole chicken
1.5 t salt
.25 t garlic powder
.25 t pepper
2 T butter
2 T olive oil
.25 C dry white wine
.25 C water

Sprinkle chicken with salt garlic powder and pepper.

Melt butter with olive oil in Dutch Oven over medium high heat.

Add chicken and cook breast side down for 5 minutes (or until golden brown).

Turn chicken (breast side up). reduce heat to medium low. Add water and wine. Cover and cook 1 hour until meat thermometer inserted in thigh reads 180.
